Ophir is continuing its pursuit for LNG-scale reserves off Tanzania in partnership with operator BG Group.
The duo’s Papa-1 probe, targeting a 3.1 Tcf prospect, is about halfway towards completion with results expected at the end of July or early August.
BG and Ophir have so far made five gas discoveries in blocks 1, 3 and 4 whose recoverable resources, estimated to be between 9 Tcf and 10 Tcf, are sufficient to place the partnership “at the tipping point for two trains of LNG”, said Oldham.
