Partners in the Snohvit gas field off Norway have baulked at operator Statoil’s public backing for a second liquefaction train at the onshore plant, suggesting it is too early to be making decisions about future export options from the Barents Sea.
A conceptual decision on an additional train was postponed earlier this summer by the Snohvit partners for further commercial and technical analysis due to disagreement over the relative merits of this option compared with a proposed 1000-kilometre pipeline project.
