Japan’s Inpex is close to launching a front-end engineering and design competition for the Abadi floating liquefaction project off Indonesia, writes Tan Hwee Hwee.
The developer has already received technical bids after inviting offers for the key engineering studies contract late last month.
The FEED contest for the 2.5 million tonnes per annum floater is expected to start after the submission of commercial proposals, now due to take place in June.
Groups in the running are Chiyoda with Saipem, Hyundai Heavy Industries and SBM Offshore; Foster Wheeler with the Petrofac-IKPT joint venture and STX Offshore & Shipbuilding; and JGC with Technip and Samsung Heavy Industries.
