Shipyards are due to submit offers at the end of this week for the LNG newbuildings required to serve the Inpex-led $34 billion Ichthys LNG project in Australia.
Six yards are understood to have been pre-qualified for the work.
They include South Korea’s big three — Samsung Heavy Industries, Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering and Hyundai Heavy Industries — as well as compatriot yard group STX Offshore & Shipbuilding.
