BG Group and Ophir Energy have made a sixth consecutive natural gas discovery offshore Tanzania with the Papa-1 exploration well as they continue to build up reserves to feed a potential LNG project.
Ophir said that Papa-1 was drilled in 2186 metres of water to a total depth of 5544 metres and encountered an 89-metre gas column.
The outfit added said that initial analysis of the well’s results suggests a find in the range of 500 billion cubic feet to 2 trillion cubic feet.
