Sinopec has firmed up a deal with Australia Pacific LNG partners ConocoPhillips and Origin Energy to buy a further 3.3 million tonnes per annum over 20 years from the project.
The agreement takes the Chinese company’s purchases from the coalbed methane-backed liquefaction plant to 7.6 million tpa and raises its project shareholding to 25% from 15%.
The sale of the additional volumes is expected to herald the anticipated sanction of a second train at the Queensland development.
