Conflicting talk is rumbling round the industry concerning possible LNG sales deals from the much-delayed Angola LNG project.

Chatter among brokers and traders suggests that around 2 million tonnes per annum of the project’s 5.2 million tpa production has been pencilled in under several short-term deals of five years or less.

A variety of names have been floated as possible buyers ranging from traders to state energy outfits and Japanese utilities.

But others reported that shareholder Chevron has issued a clear mandate that it will not sell any product in advance of the project start-up.
