Supermajor Shell has unveiled an adapted floating liquefaction design targeting stranded dry gas reserves.

‘FLNG Lean’ is a simpler version of the supermajor’s original floater heading for Prelude and associated gas fields off Australia, Shell Upstream International general manager FLNG Neil Gilmour told a briefing at the World Gas Conference this week.

The 6 million tonnes per annum unit would have reduced functionality for processing, storing and offloading other liquids such as LPG and condensate that are not part of the well stream.
