A Shell-led group of LNG players has applied for permission to export up to 24 million tonnes per annum from a proposed liquefaction project in British Columbia.

Shell Canada - a joint development outfit comprising Anglo-Dutch supermajor Shell, PetroChina, Mitsubishi and Korea Gas Corporation – is seeking a 25 year export licence from the National Energy Board.

The developer hopes to start up the first train from a planned four-train project in 2019.
