Canada has huge gas reserves but the potential for LNG export projects could be limited.
Wood Mackenzie senior research analyst Asish Mohanty expects just one liquefaction plant to come online processing around 1 billion cubic feet per day by 2020 compared to three or four in the US.
He noted, however, that there is less political risk in Canada, which might result in one more project being able to squeeze through.
