Norwegian operator Statoil and its partners have abandoned plans to develop a second liquefaction train for the Snohvit LNG project for the time being. Gas volumes in the Barents Sea field are not large enough to justify the investment, Statoil said. Statoil and Snohvit partners Petoro, Total, GDF Suez and RWE Dea have not decided whether an LNG expansion or a new pipeline would be the best option for a future capacity increase, Statoil said.
