Petrobras is on track to quadruple its LNG purchases in 2012 as the Brazilian company turns to bigger Qatari cargoes to meet surging power-sector demand.
The state energy player took delivery last week of its first shipment onboard a Q-Flex-size LNG carrier.
The 210,100-cbm Al Aamriya (built 2008) arrived in Guanabara Bay on 18 April.
It spent several days discharging its cargo through the Petrobras-chartered FSRU Golar Winter, which is currently on station there as a floating import terminal.
Several additional Q-Flex shipments are expected to be delivered to Guanabara Bay in the near future with the Al Aamriya currently scheduled to return in early June.
