The Russian government has ordered the start of construction of a new port close to the settlement of Sabetta on the Yamal Peninsula (right).
The goal is to provide an outlet for exports of LNG and condensate from the South Tambey field.
Construction will be managed by state-owned Rosmorport and overseen by the ministries of economic development and transportation.
Yamal LNG, owned by Russian independent gas producer Novatek and Total of France, operates the South Tambey field.
