Papua New Guinea’s government plans to pull out of a project agreement with the Liquid Nuigini Gas joint venture for the Gulf LNG export project.
JV shareholder InterOil said it has received a copy of a notice of intention to cancel the 2009 deal from an unofficial channel at the Department of Petroleum and Energy.
The exploration company said: “Having considered the issue carefully with our external advisers, we are strongly of the view that the state has no right at present to terminate the project agreement.”
