Statoil and ExxonMobil have made a large natural gas discovery off Tanzania.
The Zafarani-1 wildcat about 80 kilometres off the coast in block 2 has so far proved up to 5 trillion cubic feet of gas, said operator Statoil. The well encountered 120 metres of “excellent quality reservoir”.
The Norwegian company has a 65% working interest in the permit alongside ExxonMobil on 35%.
