Pechora LNG has kicked off pre-investment studies for its planned liquefaction project on Russia’s Barents Sea coast.
The developer, formerly known as CH-Oil&Gaz, has contracted compatriot engineering and design institute Giprospetsgaz to carry out the work.
Giprospetsgaz is charged with drawing up “pre-project documentation” on how Pechora LNG should move forward on LNG production, factoring in a possible increase in resources in the Kumzhinskoye and Korovinskoye gas condensate fields that would feed the project.
Gazprom’s leading design bureau is due to complete the work in October.
Pechora LNG said front-end engineering and design work and a final investment decision on the export project will follow after the formation of a partnership, which is expected in early 2013.
