The US Department of Energy has approved exports of domestic gas from the Trunkline LNG receiving terminal in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
Under the authorisation, operator Southern Union and capacity holder BG Group will be allowed to sell home-produced LNG to countries that have free trade agreements with the US.
The DoE has yet to rule on exports to non-FTA countries, although authorities approved a similar request by terminal operator Cheniere Energy in May.
