Colombia’s Pacific Rubiales has long-term ambitions to double production capacity at its planned small-scale floating liquefaction project.

The South American company is working with Belgium’s Exmar to deliver a bi-directional barge-based liquefaction, regasification and storage unit for a site on the country’s northern coast.

“This (project) is for 70 million cubic feet per day of liquefaction capacity and we expect in the future to go for 70 million more,” said chief executive Ronald Pantin in a conference call this week.

“With this, we’ll be able to monetise all the reserves that we have in (feedstock gas field) La Creciente for a very good price because we’re substituting liquids in the Caribbean basin and also in Central America.”
