Oregon LNG has applied to export 9.6 million tonnes per annum from a planned liquefaction project in Warrenton to countries that do not hold a free trade agreement with the US.

The developer hopes its reliance on Canadian rather than domestic feedstock will help push through its application with the Department of Energy more quickly.

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission this week approved the start of the pre-filing process for the project’s construction permit.

Oregon LNG wants to build the plant at the site of its proposed import terminal.
