UK independent Ophir Energy has almost doubled its estimate of in-place gas resources held in the BG Group-operated Mzia discovery off Tanzania to about 6 trillion cubic feet.
The junior exploration partner believes more than enough gas has been found off Tanzania in blocks 1, 3 and 4 to support a two-train liquefaction plant.
The London-listed independent is also set to begin interpreting 3D seismic data shot in the eastern part of block 1, adjacent to Eni’s prolific block 4 off Mozambique, which has the potential to hold huge volumes of gas.
