Ophir Energy said it expects to wrap up negotiations “imminently” for a rig to seek gas for a second LNG train in Equatorial Guinea.
The unit will carry out a three or four well drilling programme on Block R, the Africa-focused explorer said.
The rig will drill at least one appraisal well on the Fortuna-1 prospect, as well as exploration wells at the Tonel and Silenus prospects.
