UK-listed Ophir Energy is increasingly confident of pushing ahead with an LNG project in Equatorial Guinea after success with the final wildcat in a three-well drilling campaign in block R. Drilled in 1758 metres of water by Ocean Rig’s semi-submersible Eirik Raude, Fortuna West-1 hit a 60-metre net gas column in Late Miocene sands, the primary target, in the western lobe of the Fortuna complex.
