Shipbuilders have submitted complete bid packages for six LNG carrier newbuildings required by Nigeria LNG.
Offers that include technical proposals and commercial bids plus details on Nigerian content are understood to have been handed in last week. One source indicated it had been quite a mass of information to assemble.
South Korea’s Hyundai Heavy Industries, Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering and Samsung Heavy Industries plus STX Offshore & Shipbuilding are all believed to have offered in for the work following clarification meetings held in London during July.
NLNG is said to have given indications that it will select a shipbuilder and proceed to place the orders this year.
Competition is expected to be tough.
