Italy’s Eni and Anadarko of the US have both chalked up fresh drilling successes off Mozambique as they work to put together competing LNG projects in the East African nation.
Eni said it discovered another 10 trillion cubic feet of gas at its Mamba North East-2 exploration well in Area 4, boosting the play’s in-place resource estimate to 70 Tcf.
In adjacent Area 1, meanwhile, Anadarko has drilled a successful appraisal well on its Atum/Golfinho gas complex.
Eni’s probe hit 200 metres of pay and the company believes the reservoir is in communication with its Mamba North East-1 and Mamba South-1 finds.
