Two large new natural gas discoveries by Eni and Anadarko have further boosted the prospects of Mozambique becoming a major LNG producer.
The Italian company said this week its Coral-1 exploration well in Area 4 has uncovered estimated reserves of 7 trillion to 10 trillion cubic feet.
The find has increased overall gas resource estimates in Area 4 to a massive 52 Tcf, according to the operator.
Eni and partners Galp Energia of Portugal, Korea Gas and Mozambique’s ENH plan to production-test Coral-1 and drill five more wells to establish upside potential.
