Mozambique’s government has given Thailand’s PTT Exploration and Production the all clear to buy Cove Energy.
PTTEP subsidiary PTTEP Africa Investment has received written consent from Mozambique’s mineral resources minister for its bid to acquire the London-listed explorer.
“The receipt of this written consent can confirm that Mozambique’s government has strong confidence and trust in the capability of PTTEP…which strive to increase and strengthen the energy supply to both Thailand and the Republic of Mozambique,” said PTTEP president Tevin Vongvanich
PTTEP and supermajor Shell have been in a bidding war for Cove Energy.
