Malaysia saw its May LNG export sales total rise by 40.6% thanks to rising prices.

The country shipped out 4.4 billion ringgits ($1.39 billion) worth of the fuel during the month, compared to 3.1 billion ringgits in May 2011, according to government trade data.

The figure represents a 6.3% rise on the 4.1 billion ringgits worth of exports in April 2011.

The average unit value of LNG rose by 51.6% year-over-year.
