Explorer InterOil has spudded an appraisal well at a gas field near its Gulf LNG export project in Papua New Guinea.
The company said it plans to drill the entire reservoir interval at the Triceratops-2 well, reaching an estimated depth of 2,310 metres.
“Our exploration team has identified significant potential in this field which is proximate to our planned Gulf LNG project,” said chief executive Phil Mulacek.
