Korea Gas Corporation has scored government backing to buy 5.64 million tonnes per annum of LNG in separate deals with two supermajors.
South Korea’s Ministry of Knowledge Economy has confirmed that Kogas will purchase 3.64 million tpa from Shell’s giant Prelude floating liquefaction project in Australia for 26 years starting in 2014.
Kogas also plans to buy a 10% stake in Prelude after signing the off-take contract, according to Bloomberg.
