Jordan Cove Energy will need to apply to the Oregon Department of Energy for a permit to build a power plant to go alongside its planned US LNG export project.
The developer has given the state notice of its intent to file an application for the facility, according to The Herald and News.
Oregon LNG told a public meeting on Tuesday that the plant will be needed to supply power for cooling gas into LNG as the local electricity grid will not be able to meet its requirements.
Jordan Cove is seeking Federal Energy Regulatory Commission approval of its liquefaction proposal by the year-end, allowing for exports to begin in the fourth quarter of 2017.
