A key report recommending that Israel should allow a portion of its large natural gas reserves to be exported, most likely as LNG, is now being considered by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu.

The study was produced by the Zemach Committee, chaired by Shaul Zemach, director general at the Ministry of Energy & Water Resources.

It backs up earlier recommendations that significant exports should be allowed as part of a broader gas policy designed to balance the needs of domestic consumers and oil company balance sheets.
