InterOil has pushed back start-up of its proposed Gulf LNG export project but is couching Papua New Guinea’s recent elections as a major step forward for the plan.
Chief executive Phil Mulacek told analysts this week that the proposed plant, which is being pursued in partnership with Singapore-based Pacific LNG, could begin operations in late 2015 or early 2016.
InterOil was previously pursuing a start-up in late 2014 or early 2015, but that was before PNG demanded that the Houston-headquartered explorer bring a major LNG operator into the project.
