ExxonMobil and Oil Search have started drilling a large exploration prospect in the Papua New Guinea jungle as they seek to build more gas reserves to underpin their LNG plans.
The Trapia-1 well is being drilled in block PRL 11, near the fields that will feed the ExxonMobil-led PNG LNG production project.
It is one of a series of prospects in the area with multi-trillion cubic feet potential, said Oil Search.
