Cheniere Energy has secured the first-ever construction permit for an LNG export project in the Lower 47 US states.
The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has approved construction and operation of four liquefaction trains at Sabine Pass LNG, an import terminal in Cameron Parish, Louisiana.
The green light means Cheniere is on the cusp of a final investment decision for the project’s first phase after tapping a coalition of banks Monday to secure $4 billion in debt financing for the project.
