A leading US environmental group has formalised its opposition to LNG export projects in the country.

In filings to US regulators, the Sierra Club is seeking to intervene in Cheniere Energy’s Sabine Pass LNG export project Louisiana and a similar proposal at Dominion Cove Point LNG in Maryland.

Owners of both import terminals are pursuing plans to build liquefaction trains to convert the facilities into bi-directional import-export hubs.
