Operator Inpex has officially broken ground at the Ichthys LNG export project in Australia.
Prime Minister Julia Gillard (pictured centre) launched construction at a ceremony at Blaydin Point in Darwin this week.
On the equity front, Japanese off-taker Chubu Electric Power has secured a 0.7% stake in the project. Inpex now has 72.1% with Total on 24%.
Three fellow Japanese off-takers make up the remaining shareholders but their stakes are each subject to Australian government approval.
