GDF Suez is setting the scene for a hotly contested race for a crucial engineering and design contract on the US$3.9 billion to $4.8 billion Bonaparte floating LNG project in northern Australia.
A pre-qualification exercise is expected to conclude in the weeks ahead.
The French energy company will then invite selected bidders to compete for a concept definition contract that sources said will evolve into front-end engineering and design.
