Gazprom has completed the sale of its 80% stake in Baltic LNG, a long-shelved liquefaction project planned for the Gulf of Finland, to petrochemical company Sibur.

The Russian gas giant’s corporate magazine said Sibur, which plans to build a methanol plant at the site, is aiming to buy the remaining 20% of Baltic LNG from shipowner SCF Group.

Sibur revealed its intention to buy the 120 hectare project site a year ago.
