Australian construction outfit Theiss has landed a A$450 million (US$465 million) site preparation contract for the Wheatstone LNG export project.

The Leighton Holdings subsidiary will carry out the bulk and final-finish earthworks for the plant. It will install a storm water drainage system and build access roads around the project.

Wheatstone LNG’s lead contractor, Bechtel, made the subcontract award.

The deal marks the company’s fourth contract for the Wheatstone LNG project, having already bagged work in joint ventures to build the materials offloading facility and LNG and condensate tanks.
