Sempra LNG plans to construct a fourth storage tank at the Cameron LNG import terminal to support a liquefaction project at the Louisiana site.

The 160,000 cubic-metre full containment tank will boost storage capacity to 640,000 cubic metres, according to a resource report filed with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission this week.

The tank is the same design as one that was approved for an expansion of the import terminal but never built.

Sempra offshoot Cameron LNG hopes to kick off construction of the liquefaction infrastructure in December 2013.

The developer is aiming to apply to the FERC for permission to build the export plant this December and receive the nod by the following October.
