Supermajors ExxonMobil and ConocoPhillips are visiting South Korean shipyards to progress plans to develop and build floating liquefaction units.

ExxonMobil is looking at a vessel that could reach a similar size to Shell’s massive Prelude floating production, storage and offloading unit, sources said, and recently completed a tour of potential builders.

ConocoPhillips, which has been working on its own FLNG plans for a number of years, is also scheduled to visit yards in the coming weeks.

Other big-hitters also appear to be making strides on floating liquefaction.
