US energy outfit EQT has kicked off a pilot programme to convert drilling rigs to LNG in northern West Virginia.
The move marks the first LNG rig conversion in the Marcellus shale play, according to EQT.
The switch will allow LNG to take over from diesel used to power equipment at the well site.
EQT is using locally produced LNG from Marcellus natural gas reserves in its pilot initiative.
