Natural gas discoveries in Oman have raised the prospect of expansion at the Persian Gulf country’s currently under-utilised LNG export plant.
Oman LNG chief executive Brian Buckley said gas finds by UK supermajor BP are expected to more than meet fast-growing domestic demand by 2016 or 2017.
It is still too early to begin planning export expansion in Oman, he cautioned, as national supply will be the first priority of the sultanate, which by law owns all gas in the country.
