Sempra Energy will shortly submit an application to the US Department of Energy for an export licence covering its Cameron LNG import terminal on the Gulf Coast.

“We have strong interest from large, creditworthy counter-parties who want to procure liquefaction services from Cameron LNG on long-term, 20-plus-year contracts,” Sempra chief executive Debra Reed said in a conference call.

While the company has no specific plans as yet it will not build liquefaction facilities unless the capacity is fully contracted.
