Excelerate Energy has launched the first US application for a floating LNG export project.
The company has asked the US Department of Energy for permission to ship out up to 10 million tonnes per annum from its Lavaca Bay LNG project in Texas. The 25-year licence request covers countries holding a free trade agreement with the US.
Houston-based Excelerate is carrying out project-specific front-end engineering and design for a 3 million to 4 million tpa floating liquefaction storage and offloading unit.
