Drydocks World has won a subcontract to fabricate the massive turret for Shell’s Prelude LNG floater.
The turret is the world’s largest at 11,500 tonnes.
The Dubai shipyard group won the work from SBM Offshore, itself a subcontractor for the consortium of Technip and Samsung Heavy Industries tasked with building the first sanctioned floating LNG unit.
Under the deal, SBM is to supply the mooring system for the LNG floating production, storage and offloading unit planned for waters off north-western Australia.
