Russia’s Gazprom has suggested new partners could be added at the Shtokman LNG project rather than replacing first-phase shareholders Total and Statoil.

Deputy chairman Alexander Medvedev said companies “have a chance” of remaining on the equity roster.

Statoil officials this week said the Norwegian company will stay onboard after earlier suggestions it was the most likely player to quit.

The Gazprom official also said there is a “good chance” that all three phases of Shtokman will be exploited as LNG and not just the first phase.
