Repsol has made a significant natural gas discovery onshore Peru, boosting the availability of supply both for the domestic market and to support the Andean nation’s sole LNG export project.

The Spanish operator said the Sagari probe on block 57 is estimated to contain between 1 trillion and 2 trillion cubic feet of gas, making it the second sizeable find on the acreage.

An early development project is already under way at the Kinteroni discovery.

Repsol did not talk about development plans for the new find but explained it would be pressing ahead with further exploration on block 57 once the testing programme is completed.
