Cheniere Energy expects to sanction the first two trains at its Sabine Pass LNG export project on the Texas-Louisiana border “in the next few days”.
Chief executive Charif Souki said the Houston terminal operator is awaiting Federal Energy Regulatory Commission approval of its implementation plan, after which the board will meet to issue a notice to proceed to engineer Bechtel.
However, Cheniere will not need to take a “very formal” final investment decision.
