Angola LNG’s new marketing outfit has pre-qualified a number of potential buyers for volumes from the upcoming production project.
London-based RDE is understood to be in the early stages of a tender process to sell the bulk of the 5.2 million tonnes per annum of LNG from the central African plant.
Asian buyers including Thailand’s PTT, CPC of Taiwan, Korea Gas, Indian and Japanese companies plus a number of traders are among those believed to be in the queue for cargoes.
The traders may find it difficult to elbow their way through, sources suggested.
Several highlighted Trafigura, however, which has close links with Angolan state shareholder Sonangol on oil, as a likely candidate.
The first cargo is expected to emerge in mid to late June....
